Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) was introduced in 1977 with the administration of chemotherapeutic agent to gelatin sponge particles through hepatic artery patients hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and established as conventional TACE using Lipiodol 1980s. In 2000s, drug-eluting beads were developed applied clinically. Currently, is a commonly used non-surgical treatment modality for HCC who are unsuitable curative treatment. Considering vital role management HCC, it crucial organize current knowledge expert opinions regarding patient preparation, procedural techniques, post-treatment care TACE, which can enhance therapeutic efficacy safety. A group 12 experts fields interventional radiology hepatology, convened by Research Committee Korean Liver Cancer Association (KLCA), has consensus-based practical recommendations TACE. These have been endorsed Society Interventional Radiology provide useful information direction performing procedure well pre- post- care.
